Macbook batteries work by storing energy in a battery. When you need that energy, the battery releases it all at once. This is different than how your car battery works. A car battery releases the energy it stores over time. That’s why when you leave your car parked and come back later, the engine might not start right away – the battery needs time to recharge.
When you want to use your MacBook, you first have to plug it in. Then, if you have a newer model, the screen will turn off and the computer will go into sleep mode. The computer goes into sleep mode because it’s saving power by turning off some of its parts.
After your computer goes into sleep mode, your Macbook will start up in a few seconds if it has been idle for a few minutes or hours (depending on how much power is left in your battery). If your Macbook has been used recently and has more power left in its battery, then it will start up right away without needing to wait for anything else.
If you’re using an older model MacBook that doesn’t go into sleep mode, then when you plug it in, the computer will try to turn on using its internal batteries first. If those batteries are low on power or if they’ve been used before and haven’t had a chance to charge lately, then the computer might not start up at all. In this case, you’ll need to take your Macbook to an Apple store.
